Chair- Danielle Charest
Danielle Charest joined the Board of Trustees in June 2017. She is a proud mom with children ranging in age from 5-22. She has been living in Nashua with her husband, Eric, for 22 years. They currently have a 5th grader, 4th grader and a Kindergartner attending Gate City Charter School for the Arts. This is her family’s fourth year in the GCCSA community and they couldn’t be happier. Danielle has been involved in parent-teacher organizations for over 17 years as her older children have gone through school and has found GCCSA to be the perfect fit for her family. She is proud to be part of the BOT. She is highly involved in GCCSA PTO and currently sits on the board as Treasurer. In their free time, her family enjoys volunteering in numerous organizations within the community such as junior actor-singers, NYSL, operation Christmas Child, and their daughter’s charter high school, Granite State Arts Academy. Outside of her family and her volunteer hours, Danielle works as a Licensed Nursing Assistant. She is also attending Rivier University to become a Registered Nurse.
BS in Law Enforcement from Western New England College and a Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law. A police lieutenant for Lowell Massachusetts, Jack has over 25 years of law enforcement experience including teaching at the police academy. Currently the OIC of the Family Services Unit, against children. In this position he also oversees the School Resource Officers program. This includes working with school administrations with both school related crime and positive youth related programs. He is a member of the Greater Lowell Advocacy Network and on the board of supervisors for the Community Outreach Opioid Program. He is currently part of the 2019 policy review for the department. Jack has also been a practicing attorney since 2011 and a court certified mediator. As the managing partner of Cullen and Beloin, he established the firm's operational strategies, created and maintained policies and procedures as well as representing clients in legal proceedings. Admitted to the US Court of Appeals for Veteran Claims, Jack specializes in veteran disability claims. Jack is a veteran of Operations Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom. He has served in both the US Air Force and the US Army.
Treasurer - Felicia Doucette
Felicia Doucette comes to the Gate City Charter School for the Arts with several years of experience working in public accounting for a multinational professional services company in Boston, MA. Felicia has served several industries during her public accounting career such as technology, manufacturing, and most recently investment management. Felicia obtained her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA and went on to obtain her Masters in Accounting and MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Felicia is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts. Felicia has three cousins that attend the Gate City Charter School for the Arts. Felicia enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and two dogs.
The Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of every month at
7 pm in the school.

Secretary - Sarah Thibeault
Sarah Thibeault lives with her husband, Julian, step son, Weston and daughter, Olive in Nashua, NH. Both herself and her husband come from an arts background and were excited to hear about Gate City Charter School for the Arts, and knew this was the school for their daughter. We are excited to be in our second year at GCCSA, Olive is in first grade, and loves her school. Sarah works as a bartender 2 nights a week and is currently working on a certificate in Sports and Exercise Nutrition with the hopes of opening and running her own wellness studio in the near future. She teaches Sunday School and sits on the financial board of her church in North Chelmsford, MA, where she grew up. In their free time Sarah and her family volunteer in their church community and try to get active doing yoga or going on nature walks. Sarah loves volunteering at the school and helps in the library and cafeteria and anywhere else she can. Sarah is excited to be part of Gate City Charter School for the Arts and proud to be serving as the Parent Representative on the Board of Trustees. Thibeaults@gccs-nh.org
Parent Rep- Neil Mahoney
Neil graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science from the University of New Hampshire and holds a Green Belt Six Sigma certificate from Villanova University. He has been employed as the Vice President of Procurement for the last 22 years at Fulfillment America Inc. in Billerica, MA. His roles include Account Management for two major Quick Service Restaurant chains, Purchasing, and Scheduling.
Neil is the proud parent of three daughters. His oldest daughter, Payton, will be a senior at Trinity High School. His middle daughter, Taylor, is currently enrolled in 7th grade at Gate City. His youngest daughter, Reagan, is currently enrolled in 3rd grade at Gate City.
This is the fourth year his family has been part of the Gate City community. The caring and supportive learning environment that Gate City provides is an idea fit for his daughters’ needs.
Neil was raised in Pelham, NH and his wife Amanda have been married for 19 years.
He is an avid golfer and most weekends you will find him on the golf course. Neil’s love of golf allowed him the opportunity to run a charity golf tournament for over 10 years to help raise money for cancer research. When not on the golf course, Neil and his family enjoy game nights, beach days, and spending time with the dachshund, Dash.
Neil is excited for the opportunity to be serving the school as the parent representative and welcomes any comments or suggestions.
Bill Spinelli comes to the Gate City Charter School for the Arts with vast experience in the field of finance. He spent 25 years as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer in venture capital, real estate, and manufacturing related businesses. Bill has a reputation as a “financial trouble-shooter” supported by consistent success in motivating cross-departmental improvements in operating systems and productivity. His extensive corporate experience includes financial management and business operations. Bill’s hands-on approach to the management of financial operations and senior management has lead to the successful implementation of long-term strategic goals. Bill is proficient in establishing and orchestrating working relationships with outside investors, bankers, accountants, insurance and legal professionals to facilitate corporate expansion. In 2006, following this fulfilling career in corporate finance, Bill began a career as a Licensed Realtor in NH and MA. Bill attended Holy Cross College, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and holds degrees in Business Administration and Finance. He has been married to his best friend, Cynthia, for 38 years. They have two grown children, Justin and Elise, of whom they are very proud. Bill and Cynthia make their home in Nashua, where Bill is active in the Nashua Rotary.
Jack Balcom comes to GCCSA with over 45 Years of Leadership and Educational experience. Jack is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD taking a US Marine Corps officer’s commission 1971-1977 serving two western pacific tours leading a company of 200 Marines. He has two Master’s Degrees (MS from USC and MEd from Rivier). His last leadership assignment was finishing up his third term as a NH State Representative and was Vice Chairman of the NH House Education Committee (2014-2016) and Chairman of the House Sub-Committee on Public Charter Schools.. He a strong believer in Educational Choice. He has visited more than half the NH Charter Schools and was personally invited by the Massachusetts Commissioner of Ed. to visit many of their Charter Schools. Jack has served on the New England Board of Higher Education, State Advisory Committee for Students with disabilities, and was the author and Primary sponsor for the State’s “Dyslexia Law”. Jack is a Certified school Guidance Counselor and has over 25 years of classroom teaching experience from College level down to Pre-K. Additionally, he has attended numerous Educational Seminars from Newport to Hawaii including the White House. Jack is married to Marie (Mendelow), a prominent local Music Teacher and musician. He has two grown children Lindsey and Jonathan and four grand-kids. Jack has been a Merrimack School Board Member and is in his 7th 3-year term as Town Trustee of Trust Funds.
